RESEARCH PROJECTS
Our Current Focus
Genomics: Investigating HIV-associated mutations in chromatin regulatory elements contributing to latency. Palstra, R et al., Science Advances, 2018
Transcriptomics: Investigating post-transcriptional regulation of HIV-1 latency and replication.
Proteomics: Latent HIV-promoter pull down to identify proteins involved in latency. Preprint: Ne, Crespo et al., Nuc Ac Res, 2022 ; Roling, M et al, mBio 2021
Candidate approach: Chromatic remodelling using BAF-inhibitors to reactivate HIV, ongoing clinical trial, synergy with other LRAs. Marian, CA et al, Cell Chemical Biology, 2018: Stoszko, M et al, eBioMedicine, 2015

Unbiased approach: Medium-throughput screen of fungal secondary metabolites to identify novel LRAs. Stoszko, M et al, Science Advances, 2020.
Candidate approach: DDX3 inhibitors to selectively kill HIV infected cells. Preprint: Rao, S et al, Nat Comm, 2021.

Unbiased approach: Identify inducers of infected cell death using compound library screens

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
FISH-FLOW
In our lab we have implemented a fluorescent in situ hybridization coupled with flow cytometry technique for the study of transcription and translation in vitro.
MOLECULAR TECHNIQUES
In Mahmoudi lab we have well implemented techniques such as: CHIP-seq, ATAQ-qPCR, ATAC-seq..
PRE-CLINICAL AND CLINICAL STUDIES
We participate in nation-wide clinical studies in HIV-1 cure research (NCT03525730)
DRUG SCREENING PLATFORMS
RESERVOIR QUANTIFICATION TECHNIQUES
In our lab we have implemented several reservoir quantification techniques such as: TILDA, Integrated HIV-1 DNA, CA HIV-RNA
