RESEARCH PROJECTS
Our Current Focus
Generation of patient-derived 3D bladder organoids: Modelling and molecular characterization of bladder cancer pathogenesis in patient-derived organoids
Establishment of patient-derived tumoroids from urine samples: We isolate cells from urine samples and seed them in 3D cultures containing bladder expansion media to expand the patient bladder cells in organoid –tumoroid structure
Unbiased approach:
Proteomics and genomics analysis of treatment naive high grade NMIBC-derived tumoroids and healthy tissue-derived organoids
Platform for anti-bladder cancer drug screening and drug-induced toxicity
Establishment of co-culture system of patient-derived bladder cancer tumoroids with autologous PBMCs/ CD8+T cells
Candidate approach:
Molecular characterization and pharmacological targeting of ARID1A deficiency in bladder cancer
Generation of transgenic patient-derived bladder organoid lines to examine the molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis
Induced Cell Death (ICD) strategy towards elimination of bladder cancer
Characterization of aminopeptidase NPEPPS as a target to overcome gemcitabine/cisplatin resistance in Patient-derived bladder cancer organoids. Jones et al 2021, bioRxiv
